A blaze at a garment factory near New Karachi’s Sector 8-A led to a building collapse on Tuesday, injuring at least five firefighters. According to the Edhi Foundation, the injured were transported to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital by its ambulances.
Rescue 1122 said a team—comprising one ambulance and five fire tenders—reached the site shortly after the alert, and operations to bring the fire under control were ongoing, a spokesperson noted.
In a separate incident in August, seven people were hurt when a factory engulfed in flames collapsed near Check Post 5 in the Landhi Export Processing Zone. The fire began at a garment unit and spread to three adjacent buildings, which were evacuated.
